The Kellett Charity Ball is not only a great opportunity to bring together the whole Kellett Parent Community for the first time this decade, it also supports the School’s efforts to make our school’s world-class education available to the most disadvantaged.
Offering opportunity is a central commitment at Kellett and one that goes beyond our student body. We are fortunate to be a privileged and well-resourced community who can extend a welcome to those who do not have the means to access a Kellett education. The AMD Fund for Bursaries, was established in 2018 for such purpose, providing free or heavily-subsidised school places for disadvantaged children in Hong Kong. Providing bursaries is enriching for the whole community, both in the act of giving, but also in the different perspectives that it exposes us to.
The Mira Hotel is very generously sponsoring our event. We feel very fortunate to have our Charity Ball at such a beautiful and prestigious hotel, named “Hong Kong’s Leading Lifestyle Hotel” in the 27th annual World Travel Awards.
The Mira Hong Kong is a smoke-free design haven with 492 guest rooms, including a collection of 56 suites and specialty suites, six hip bars and restaurants including two Michelin-recommended restaurants, state-of-the-art convention and event facilities, accolades-worthy spa indulgence, fitness centre and an infinity pool housed in the award-winning MiraSpa. Centrally located in Tsim Sha Tsui, The Mira overlooks the lush Kowloon Park and has easy connection to all parts of the vibrant metropolis.
The Kellett community is not only generous but also full of talent. One of our assistant music teachers – Devon van Rooyen – plays in one of Hong Kong’s most beloved bands, OnPoint. We are very grateful that OnPoint will be supporting our event and performing live.
OnPoint is an international band known for their fun twists on our favourite pop classics, their smooth RnB and Jazz, 70’s rock and more. Spearheaded by Canadian Juno nominated producer, Billy Alexander, and fuelled by Canadian power house vocalist Janaia Farrell, OnPoint brings a little taste of home to the Hong Kong shores. South Africa’s own Devon van Rooyen keeps the heartbeat of the band strong on drums, while Filipino-born Charles Cabellon keeps the groove tight on bass. Last but not least American Geoff King Luk thrills you with his amazing guitar riffs and rhythms. Together they create a sound that is rare in Hong Kong but wildly loved amongst all.
